World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced on December 12, 2024, that wrestler Bad News Brown, real name Allen Coage, will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a legacy member of the class of 2026.[1][2]
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque shared the news on X, writing: "From standing on the podium at the 1976 Summer Olympics to the center of the ring at #WrestleMania IV, Bad News Brown was a fierce competitor with an attitude to match. For his accomplishments in combat sports and contributions to @WWE, it is a pleasure to announce his induction into the 2026 Legacy Class of the #WWEHOF."[1]
Coage, who died of a heart attack on January 6, 2007, at age 63, joins previously announced inductees in the class of 2026, including Stephanie McMahon and legacy members Demolition, Sid Eudy and Dennis Rodman.[2][3]
Prior to his wrestling career, Coage was a judo athlete who won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.[4][1]
Coage also earned a gold medal in the open category at the 1975 Pan American Games.[5][6]
In WWE, then known as the World Wrestling Federation, Brown debuted in 1988 and won the 30-man battle royal at WrestleMania IV on March 27, 1988, at Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey.[1][7]
He faced Roddy Piper in a singles match at WrestleMania VI on April 1, 1990, at SkyDome in Toronto.[7][1]
Brown never won a WWE championship but held the Stampede North American Heavyweight Championship four times and was inducted into the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2007.[3][8]
